The Genomic Testing Process

Genomically testing your animals is easy – just follow the step by step guide below.

Contact your local Neogen Territory Manager to identify the genomic testing that best fits the needs of your breeding program.

Once you’ve selected your preferred option, purchase your TSU applicator and TSUs directly from Neogen.

Collect DNA samples from your animals.

Follow these simple steps to collect a DNA sample from your animal.

Complete and submit an order submission form.

If ordering via a breed association, please contact them directly for their specific order submission process. You can also reach out to your local Neogen Territory Manager for guidance.

If you prefer to order directly from us, simply complete the order submission form available on the ‘Customer Resources‘ tab of each product page. Once completed, email the form to naa-lab@neogen.com.

Submit your DNA samples. There are two ways to submit your DNA samples:

Through a Breed Association: If ordering via a breed association, please contact them directly for their specific sample submission process. You can also reach out to your local Neogen Territory Manager for guidance.

If ordering directly from us: Package your samples securely following the guidelines provided by Neogen. Include the completed submission form and mail everything to Neogen Australasia, 14 Hume St, Bundamba, QLD 4304.

Genotyping of your samples will be undertaken, and any subsequent analysis of the genomic profiles conducted (E.g. parentage assignment)

Where applicable, genomic profiles will be provided to the respective breed association and/or genetic evaluation provider for the calculation of genomically enhanced breeding values (E.g. BREEDPLAN)

Where applicable, parentage and genetic condition results will be provided to the respective breed association for use in breed registry services.

If ordering via a breed association, check with your breed association, or local Neogen Territory Manager on the process for accessing your results.

If ordering directly from us, results will be provided via email.

Parentage and genetic condition testing results are usually available within 3-4 weeks.

Genomically enhanced EBVs will be provided by the respective genetic evaluation provider. Subject to analysis schedules, updated EBVs are usually available within 6-8 weeks.

More specific information about the ordering process for particular products can be found on the “Ordering Instructions’ tab in each product page, or by contacting Neogen Australasia on 07 3736 2134, or naa-lab@neogen.com.
