BreedSeek – Breed Verification for Cattle

BreedSeek, powered by Neogen®, identifies the primary and secondary breeds in your cattle for up to 20 breeds. This information helps you manage breeding groups to maintain desired herd composition and take advantage of marketing programs that pay premiums for verified breed composition.

Commercial beef producers have used crossbreeding since the 1970s to improve herd performance. Complementary crosses, where breeds are mated to combine strengths, take advantage of heterosis to improve feed efficiency, calf survivability, and reproductive performance.

Early research from the 1940s first highlighted the benefits of F1 crosses. Many of these crosses have developed into composite breeds such as Brangus, Droughtmaster, and Santa Gertrudis.
